Uncle Jaffi (UJ), Warri

UJ’s Warri venue, inside The Playground on Airport Road — drinks, smoky southern flavours, music, live sport and gaming under one roof. The venue is currently closed for redevelopment and reopens in 2026.
The Venue
UJ occupied a double-height hall with exposed brick, open ductwork and pendant lighting. At its centre stood the bar: a painted box carrying screens for live sport above tiers of lit, planted shelving.
Around it, orange lounge chairs and high tables sat on patterned cement tiles, framed by a gallery wall and a floor-to-ceiling mural. A staircase led up to a gaming mezzanine, and tufted blue booths gave groups a room within the room.
The Redevelopment
The photographs show UJ Warri as it was built and traded, before the current redevelopment.
The venue is now closed while it is reworked, and reopens in 2026.
